Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD - email supervisor to discuss availability.

Camille is an ARC Future Fellow within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Adelaide, and a quantitative ecologist and ecological modeller with a strong interest in marine ecosystems. Her research aims to improve our understanding of ecosystem potential to resist and recover from cumulative disturbance impacts, and to identify the social-ecological factors that are associated with the sustainable provision of ecosystem services in support of human health and well-being.

My research blends theoretical and empirical models at organizational levels ranging from individual organisms to ecosystems, using a wide range of quantitative tools from process-based demographic models to hierarchical models of social-ecological systems. I am particularly interested in uncovering how biodiversity contributes ecosystem services in support of human health and wellbeing, and how conservation and management can alleviate the detrimental impact of natural and anthropogenic disturbances. In addressing this I have developed methods for incorporating climate forecasts to derive future projections of ecological communities and geospatial analysis to inform and map global biodiversity patterns, and how they will be impacted by accelerated rates of climate change.

  • Managing the effects of disturbance on coral reef biodiversity: modelling starfish outbreaks in a changing world. ARC Discovery Early Career Research Award (DE140100701 | $386,006), Australian Institute of Marine Science (2014-2018).

Camille is the Coordinator for the third year Research Methods in Ecology / Wildlife Conservation /  and Marine Biology III BSc courses, which focus on statistical modelling, data management, and statistical computing using R.

Currently teaching:

ENV BIOL 3510/3520/3540 - Research Methods in Ecology / Wildlife Conservation / Marine Biology III

Research Methods in Ecology / Wildlife Conservation / Marine Biology III introduces systematic methods of design, collection, analysis and reporting of field and laboratory ecological data, for practical applications in the disciplines of ecology, wildlife conservation biology, and marine biology. Lectures outline the quantitative nature of ecological research and the value of robust sampling strategies and experimental methods.
